A keen angler contacted Detectives Sheffield in order to explain that he needed to retrieve some precious photographs on his mobile telephone handset that had become inoperative after having been dropped into the shallows of a lake whilst on a night fishing session. The images were so important to our client as they were proof of a huge record fish that he had recently caught whilst on a fishing trip abroad.

We sympathised with our client and reassured him that it may indeed be possible to retrieve some of the images and data from the handset if it had not been too badly damaged by it’s brief submergence in the lake. Although we could not guarantee full retrieval he agreed that it was well worth the effort to attempt to do so.

After sending the handset to our technical experts they performed a forensic examination of the mobile telephone and after a few days were happy to report that whilst not all of the data was able to be saved the images of the prize catch were amongst those that could be. Our client was delighted with this result.
