A troubled client called into the office of Sheffield Private Detectives. He said he needed a private investigator to find out what his wife was doing. He told us that she went out in her car at all times of the day and night without any explanation. This behaviour has been going on for about five months but there seems to be no reason for it. He told us he has asked her where she goes and why but she would not tell him. She even went as far as to tell him to mind his own business. Our client was feeling desperate about his wife’s behaviour as she had never done anything like this before in the whole of their 20 year marriage. After listening to our client it became clear to us that a GPS tracker fitted to their car would be the best way to discretely find out where she was going. The device was fitted during the day when our client had the car. We told him it would be a bit of a waiting game over the two weeks that the tracker was to be left on the car. We wanted to get as much information from the tracker as possible so we could see if she was going anywhere regularly or if she was going to the same address each time.

They were watching the reports with our client and it was a real mess. All the addresses were local and there were a few of the addresses that she went to more than twice others only once. After the two weeks were up our client decided he would like to keep the tracker for another week and he would like some surveillance. As the tracker showed us that she went out on both Thursday and Friday nights we decided to follow her on those days the next week.

We carried out six hours of surveillance following our client’s wife. She left home before 06.30hrs that Thursday evening in the car. We followed her to the Big Yellow Storage Shop where she went inside. She was not in there for very long before she came out with a suitcase on wheels and a couple of black plastic boxes. She loaded the car and the agents noticed she had changed into an evening gown and had put more makeup on. From the storage shop she went to a semidetached three bedroom house and was greeted by a woman. Shortly after a man left the property so the woman seemed to be home alone. The target arrived at the house at about 07.00hrs and slowly more women arrived dressed up and carrying wine and nibbles. From our experience we believed his wife to be hosting an Anne Summers party at this address. This made more sense of the addresses as she would go to a party hosts house talk about the party and then she would host the party and then if anyone bought anything she would deliver it to them. When our client pressed her again and gave a hint that he knew what she was doing she confessed to the whole thing. She told him she was keeping it from him because she didn’t think he would approve.
